Question 1: the advantages and disadvantages of internet of thing

The internet of thing is defined as identifiable objects that can be traced at any time and these objects possesses virtual representation and in a structure similar to the internet. Nowadays a huge number of companies invest on this technology and like many other companies is going to invest in internet of thing because the rail road business is growing and huge number of people are in need of its services. There are some important advantages of internet of thing foe Union Pacific and some of these advantages are discussed here.

 It adds safety through wheel-sensor readings. And the data can be shared with other railroads faster and more efficiently.  It helps Union pacific to optimize the traffic platform in a better way. The location data is another main advantage of internet of thing because it allows UP to trace the location of its locomotive quickly. Cost factor is one on the few disadvantages of internet of thing. UP need a huge investment for buying sensors. The second and main disadvantage of internet of thing is breach of privacy. PU should take security measurement to prevent all its data on the internet.

Question 2: What are the challenges that union pacific is experiencing.

UP is facing some major challenges because like many other technology used by many organization, it is easy to describe the technology but executing that technology is not an easy task. In order to obtain more accurate data UP is going to use tiny sensors which called motes but these tiny sensors come very expensive and the second thin it requires wireless coverage. And we know that this service is not available everywhere and currently it can said that it is the major challenge for UP.  The second challenge that can be mentioned here is that the limitation of the data. UP does not have full access to the data and hence the data cannot be analyzed quickly. There is not a comprehensive location data and this issue creates a huge problem for UP. The other challenge that I would like to mention here is the life of battery. It has been seen that batteries do not last long. As it has been stated UP experiences major challenges to establish a smart rail road and they need to come u with more comprehensive ideas and plans to overcome these challenges.

Question 3: Internet of thing in other businesses

Internet of thing is being widely in different businesses but health care is believed to create tomorrow’s health care system. In many cases patients are asked to record their vital signs and patients face difficulties in recording all these signs and they make some major mistake. it has been predicted that by 2020 more than 30 millions of devices will be connected to the internet and majority of the devices belong to the health care. Health care organization can take advantages of this new technology and provide high quality services to their patients. This technology gives them an extra edge in today’s rapidly environment. Health care organization with IoT technology offer their patients remote patient monitoring and currents statistics shows that this business in growing rapidly it gives health care organizations with a wide range of opportunities.

Hence in the end it can be said that health care organization can get accurate data through IoT and these data can be further analyzed to get accurate information about the patients.  In the near future IoT will replace Traditional telemedicine and majority of the health care organizations will use IoT for collecting more accurate data.
